Where do we begin?

Updated: May 27, 2020

We were both brought up with a love of music ranging from the Rolling Stones to Queen, the Kinks to Elvis Presley and from Tina Turner to Metallica. Our love of music has been there with us all through our lives, from going to concerts as a young child to listening to our parents favourite songs in the car. It's so important for us to surround ourselves with others who enjoy and gain joy from live music and through records. We've been lucky to go to some bloody good gigs over the years, from crowdsurfing at Arctic Monkeys at the Leadmill in Sheffield, My Chemical Romance at the O2 Academy in Leeds and recently Laura Marling at the Albert Hall in Manchester. We are regulars at Glastonbury festival (when we can get a ticket) and we've seen some amazing live performances there, from Michael Kiwanuka in a tiny tent sat on the grass with a cider to Metallica putting on one of the best live shows we’ve seen on the pyramid stage.

We want our daughter to have all of the experiences we’ve had and more. We want her to grow up around music, live and recorded, and want her to be able to use it to get her through the bad times, and enhance the great times. Music has a fantastic ability to bring people of all backgrounds together, which seems incredibly important at the moment.

Vinyl records have long been a passion of both of ours. We have an extensive collection that we've built up over the last 15 years ranging from Bombay Bicycle Club to Beyoncé and Little Simz to the Libertines. We love nothing more than putting a record on in an evening and enjoying it with a good glass of wine.

We’re starting the Turntable record store to share our love of great music with you! We will have all the latest releases, your old favourites and hopefully, eventually some exclusive vinyl records for you to buy as well as stocking merchandise, reviewing what we are listening to and updating this blog about how music continues to impact on our lives for the better.

Let us know if there's anything you'd love to see us try at the Turntable record store in the comments section below!
