The idea for The Turntable was born in the mind of it’s founder Matt in 2008, in a short lived music chain called Zavvi (now defunct) in Birmingham while looking across the way at the people sat in a cafe in Borders book shop (now also defunct) looking through the books they were interested in buying. It seemed like a great fit for a record shop too, having a brew while you try to pick a record from the hundreds you wish you could buy, while constantly adding new records to your wish list that were being played by the staff in the shop. Hundreds of thousands of coffee’s made later he opened The Turntable in October 2020.

The Turntable is a welcoming space for everyone, whatever your music taste, we wont judge, even Oasis fans are welcome. 

We serve speciality coffee, loose leaf tea, grilled cheese toasties, doorstop sandwiches, cakes and more along side thousands of records, t-shirts and other merch. We are proud to be in the heart of Huddersfield, It ain't all bad!
